The premise of the Day Soldiers series is deceptively simple: deciding that the human race is a blight on the earth, vampires and werewolves join forces in a supernatural war against us.

Brandon Hale's take on that premise is surprisingly inventive. I read the first book never predicting what would happen next, though every twist and turn built perfectly on the previous ones, and on the character motivations. Book two carried me along just as surprisingly and satisfyingly.

Normally, I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, as they too often seem a cheap ploy for roping in another sale. Hale, however, brought about both a satisfying ending AND a major change at the end of book one, and book two picks that up nicely and runs with it.

More than a well-told tale about fun characters (though it is that), the Day Soldiers series is a wonderfully conceived world that stands out as unique. Book two of the series is every bit as much fun as book one. Highly recommended.

I like the Day Soldiers series. Vampires, werewolves, witty repartee, kick-a$$ heroine...What's not to love? First one is free on right now.
We get introduced to a new breed of vampire, along with some new and interesting characters. Book starts off great and ends with a bang. Cant wait to start book 3 and book 4.
The premis of the series for these books would make a good plot for a B monster movie.
I really enjoy these stories. So tired of the zombie stories that are the same thing over and over. These stories have twist and turns and are not the same ole same ole! Will be buying and reading the next one!
Really enjoying this story! The author builds a believable world and makes you sad and laugh out loud.
One thing I'm finding out though is that nobody is safe in this world he has built!!

I liked the first book of this set but I didn't care for how dark this one turned into. In my opinion this didn't need to turn into such a dark story line. Sorry but that's how I saw it.
If you aren't reading this series, you should be! It is so well written. Gotta love the B-Team. They always win, even against terrible odds. I love the humor in this one. Well, the last one too, but poor Carl really upped the fun factor here. Then there is the fact that for awhile there I was really liking a serial killer until I was shown why that's a bad idea! This story is great right up until it ends with a bang! Seriously, if you aren't reading this series, you should be! On a more serious note, this author is going through a very serious, painful and life threatening illness and buying us books and telling all your friends to do so too would be a huge help to bis family to help pay his enormous hospital bills. So read a fantastic series and do something good at the same time!
