Another great Levon Cade read by Dixon. Spoiler alert.This one starts with a man being arrested for burglary. He ended up with money that the Fed is advised of. Money that was 30 years old but looked new. Like it had never been circulated. Money that should have been destroyed long ago. Alarm bells are ringing all over the Fed.
Of course the money was part of the stash that Cade had taken from Bellevue. Blanco's money. He's used it at that store that was robbed and now the FBI, ATF and every other three letter alphabet agency is hot on his trail. Of course trailing Levon Cade isn't as easy as it sounds.
Levon knows he's being trailed and his first priority is to get Merry out of the line of fire. He will send her to Gunny and Joyce. Merry isn't happy but understands why. Her safety is all Cade is thinking about.
Bill Marquez is the FBI agent who has been involved in the whole mess since the murders at the Blanco houses overseas. He's also been to the site at the Blanco house at Bellevue Island.
Marquez and brother agents know the man they know as Roeder killed the men who they know are responsible for the deaths at Bellevue and overseas. None of the surviving residents know anything. Or they aren't going to tell anyone anything. They have all been questioned numerous times and all know nothing. Marquez knows they are all lying but can do nothing about it.
Kiera Reeves however was talking her ass off after Marquez let her know she was being held as a material witness.
Reeves was in Bellvue pursing her own agenda. Waiting for the killers to show up at he ex husbands house there. Which they did. Money was all she was thinking about. Reeves managed to trail Levon and he left her tied up in his motel room and he took her car. The car Marquez is tracking.
Marquez knows its all about what the murderers were looking for and they have figured out that that something is billions of dollars. The old bills trail is what they are following hoping to catch Roeder.
Marquez is also puzzled why they can't get an ID on Roeder. They have caught him on the feed from security cameras in numerous places but the guy always stands so the face recognition hardware doesn't work. He obviously knows what he's doing and what he needs to do to remain unrecognized.
There is nothing anywhere, in any Federal agency or LEO agency with anything about Roeders true identity. That Roeder is one deadly guy is something Marquez and his fellow agents know because he single handedly killed the entire crew in Bellevue Lake. A crew that had tortured and killed at the overseas Blanco houses and at Bellevue. The men were stone cold killers and a better stone cold killer killed them all.
Unknown to Marquez Cade has the something he's looking for. Its a flash drive that he gives to Merry to give to Gunny. He tells Gunny how important it is and how having it will put him in danger if anyone finds out. Gunny isn't worried and hide it he will.
All the agencies are trailing Cade. A very capable Cade who leaves back trails all over spending that money to leave those trail.
Marquez is being run off his feet following that trail. A trail he knows isn't going to lead him to Roeder or whatever the hell he's calling himself now. By the time he and the team get to a location, Roeder is long gone.
Cade uses the diamonds he took from Bellevue to get good ID's. One of the relatives of those providing the ID's for Cade and Merry decides that Cade has more and he wants it. He gets two men to help him. Of course he ends up losing his life but Cade is captured by the other two.
So begins another great read by Dixon.
This one has Cade, Merry, Gunny, Joyce, Marquez, the FBI, the ATF, Homeland Security, a Cade leaving a trail all over the Midwest, a Cade who is captured, a Cade who is tortured, a girl named Sonata, a house full of sex slaves, the man who runs the house, the man who Cade tells where his stash is so they can bring it to him, a Sonata who helps Cade, a Marquez who is closing in on that house, a Marquez who arrives five minutes to late, a Cade who gives Sonata money and tells her what to spend and what to throw in a dumpster, a Cade who heads Sonata to Russians in Ohio, a man named Brett Tsukuda who works for the NSA and knows exactly who Roeder is, a Tsukuda who appears to be a D Boy just like Cade and Levon Cade doing his best to protect his daughter, evade pursuit and stay alive.
Five Stars just ain't enough.

I received a pre-release review copy of Levon’s Run and it was a pleasure to read! Sailing fresh out of the events of the previous 2 books in the series, Levon’s Trade and Levon’s Night, with Levon having saved a town from destruction at the hands of mercenaries, and at the same time liberated a fortune from the criminals, Levon Cade is now on the run from a web of police and law enforcement agencies hot on his trail, as he tries to slip through their net and get his daughter Merry to safety!
Driven to extremes by desperate circumstance, Levon Cade is a machine of a character as he seeks to sneak beneath the cop’s radar - in doing so he lays waste to criminals and gangbangers who get in his way with what can only be described as a ruthless efficiency!
It’s important to note that isn’t a guy on a one man war against crime itself - these people get in the way of Levon’s goal, and they pay the price. Levon is actually a very sympathetic lead who you root for instantly and his close, protective relationship with his daughter Merry is what drives him and the mission onward in a quest for security and peace. I was struck by how involved I got in the story!
As with most of Chuck Dixon’s work, mixed in with the action is a wry sense of humour, making the story more believable and grounded. There’s a cool angle developing with the cops and law enforcement agencies chasing him. This series feels like it can grow and grow. Even side characters or villains are given a brief chance to shine and it adds to the experience - without giving away any spoilers, there’s a Russian girl who comes into the action and her whole subplot had me in a state of high anxiety the whole time!
Chuck Dixon is a writer who brings his A Game to the table all the time - in my experience that’s a rare and important thing. He writes action mixed with character beats so well that each book in Levon series has left me charged up and emotional! It's a page turner in the best possible way! Keep them coming, Chuck! Grab a copy of Levon’s Run, people!
